Reverse Lunge

Reverse Lunge

Single Leg Strength

WHAT IS IT

The Reverse Lunge steps backwards instead of forwards, which keeps the front knee stable and loads the glute harder. It is the kinder lunge on the knees and a common accessory for the sandbag lunge station.

HOW TO DO IT CORRECTLY

  1. 1Stand tall, feet under the hips, weight held at the chest or by the sides.
  2. 2Step one foot straight back and lower the rear knee toward the floor.
  3. 3Keep the front shin close to vertical and the torso upright.
  4. 4Touch the rear knee down lightly without resting on it.
  5. 5Drive through the front heel to return to standing, then alternate.
