Pistol Squat
Single Leg ControlWHAT IS IT
The Pistol Squat is a full squat on one leg with the other held out in front. It demands ankle mobility and single-leg control, and it exposes the left-to-right imbalances that long running blocks hide.
HOW TO DO IT CORRECTLY
- 1Stand on one leg with the other extended forward, arms out for balance.
- 2Sit back and down slowly on the standing leg, keeping the heel flat.
- 3Descend until the hamstring meets the calf, free leg clear of the floor.
- 4Pause briefly at the bottom without collapsing the chest.
- 5Drive up through the whole foot to stand, then switch legs.
