Mountain Climbers
Trunk StabilityWHAT IS IT
Mountain Climbers hold a plank while driving the knees alternately toward the chest. It is the closest bodyweight analogue to keeping the trunk quiet while the legs work, which is exactly what fails first during compromised running.
HOW TO DO IT CORRECTLY
- 1Set up in a high plank with hands under the shoulders and the body in a straight line.
- 2Brace the core and squeeze the glutes so the hips do not sag or pike.
- 3Drive one knee toward your chest without letting the hips bounce.
- 4Return that foot and immediately drive the other knee through.
- 5Keep the shoulders stacked over the hands and breathe steadily throughout.
