Front Squat
Upright Squat StrengthWHAT IS IT
The Front Squat carries the bar on the shoulders, which forces a vertical torso and loads the quads and the midline harder than a back squat. It is the squat that most resembles standing up under a heavy wall ball late in a workout.
HOW TO DO IT CORRECTLY
- 1Rack the bar across the front delts with the elbows driven high.
- 2Keep a loose fingertip grip; the shelf is the shoulders, not the hands.
- 3Set your feet shoulder-width and brace hard through the midline.
- 4Sit straight down with the elbows up and the chest vertical.
- 5Stand by driving the elbows up first, then the hips through.
